Daily Log

Had a call today from a cowboy who runs a dude ranch 20 miles from here. Wanted to see what we have for sale. Really like him and his wife - good horse people. We may do a trade with them - 4 yearlings/weanlings (1 Rocky, 2 crosses and Cairo) for two young adult horses trained and ridden all summer. I think that would be a good deal for us and for him. Really pleased with the afternoon.

Daily Log

Today has been a very Peopled-day. Four different groups of people came by to visit, including two groups who dropped by unannounced (a rather rare occurrence up this way!).

We had clients by in the morning, down from Canada to see Ryder and Chance (our little Chance is going to have a girlfriend this summer!). We had a really nice time with them and were settling down for some work around the house when a teenage boy showed up at the door. Turned out he was from the family who owns a cabin back behind us - we know them, but hadn't seen him in some years. His family was working on their cabin and he got board, so he dropped in to say hi. Ended up staying all afternoon playing Play Station games with Dave. Late afternoon, his parents came looking for him and they stayed around chatting for a bit.

We went out to feed the horses and fill water tanks (the ground level is now so high from all the snow pack that even though the creek runs and we keep a hole dug to it, the horses can't reach down to the level of the water - the hole is now too deep. So we fill tanks and crack ice each day.).

Just after coming back in, a car pulled up. A couple of neighbors stopped by for some chatting and computer information. We spent an hour talking with them, invited them to dinner later in the week, and sent them off.

Just after they left Sarah called to say she was coming over if we were up for it and...yep. I think I just heard her snowmobile pull in. She'll probably stay for dinner and we'll put in a movie, hear all about her new job, etc.

All-in-all a really nice day.
